It's one of those things you only really notice when you sit back and think. We drink bottled water. A long time ago, we drank water from nature... but the industrial revolution put an end to that... and now we have an industry of bottled water. We can't even swim in Lake Ontario because it's bad for us. I just went to Sunnyside Pavillion, and it was once a thriving area where people would hang out at the beach and splash around in the water. Now there is a swimming pool there because people can't swim in the lake.
Instead, we have to DRIVE all the way up north to the cottage that we bought or rented to swim in a clean lake. So like drinking water, a clean lake is also a commodity as opposed to something that nature gives us for free. What am I getting at? I'm getting at the fact that industries ruins things that nature used to give us for free.... then it turns around and sells us the very thing it took away. It's insidious.
The next step of course is industry ruining the air we breathe, so we will have to buy tanks of purified air to breathe at work and in our homes. This idea is really not that far off actually. There are oxygen spas here and there. They seem silly now, but they won't be in a few years.
The best things in life are free... for now.
