Great moments in the pharmaceutical industry
Congratulations are in order for Barry Bonds, who has pulled ahead of Bath Ruth's legendary 714 home runs this week. This comparision of today's athlete with yesterday's athlete is offensive. Today's professional athletes are overpaid, spoiled, and hard for me to identify with. I'm willing to overlook all of that, but I cannot overlook the "allegations" of performance enhancing drug use. When you throw that into the mix, it's no longer about human achievement... it's about the achievements of the human pharmaceutical industry... and sometimes the horse pharmaceutical industry.

There was a photo in the globe a few weeks ago that had a fan-sign at a game for Bonds, and I absolutely loved it:
"Babe did it on hot dogs and beer"
Very very fitting.
