Sunday Funnies Redux

There is such a thing as a lame duck comic strip... a comic strip that have long ceased to be funny, but continues to be printed. Examples include Peanuts, Marmaduke, and the ultimate lame duck comic strip: Family Circus. But don't despair! Thanks to the internet, the old is new again!

Dan Walsh has been meticulously erasing Garfield from selected Garfield comics in a labour of love called "Garfield minus Garfield". The brilliant and bizarre result is (as the website describes) a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb.

Even Family Circus is getting a makeover, through the Nietzsche Family Circus. On this site, a random Family Circus cartoon is paired to a random Nietzsche quotation. The results are unpredictably funny. Try it for yourself!
"I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time."

I'm still laughing at Garfield Minus Garfield but that may be because I'm awake at 6:30 in the morning.

My current favourite is this one.

I'll never be depressed again.

This is my favourite: Jon finally loses it for no reason.
