Happy Lunar New Year!

This weekend will start off the Year of the Dogg.

I hope everyone has a good year in store. I myself have given in to my Chinese roots and purchased tacky Chinese New Year supplies. They include candies, red pockets, and the centrepiece is a giant gold oval thing (an ingot) that is actually hollow plastic and filled with candy. It was so tacky that I had to buy it. We also have Mandarin oranges that will no doubt begin to go bad in a few weeks. I am not sure why we have to display them around the house, only to watch them go uneaten, and eventually spoil... but I guess it's part of the great mystery of Chinese New Year.
