Belleville welcomes Kellogg plant!

CBC: Kellogg to build new factory near Belleville

If you've ever wanted Mini-Wheats fresh from the factory (and we know you do), you can have your chance soon. Kellogg will open its first new North American manufacturing plant in more than 20 years in Belleville, Ontario!

Industry sources say that the high quality of the local red wheat was a factor in the Mini-Wheats factory's location. This will also allow local red wheat producers to save the transportation costs of shipping their products to more distant locations. The Belleville factory will produce Mini-Wheats for the North American market.

The factory will cost 97 million to build, and the province is chipping in 10% to the cause. Yes, your provincial tax costs are going to help subsidize the Mini-Wheats factory. If you think that 9.7 million is too much to pay for Mini-Wheats, then I say this: Ask not what your province can do for Mini-Wheats. Ask what Mini-Wheats can do for your province!

Ich bin ein klein-wheaten!
